Defence Forces Day commemorations draw hundreds in Matabeleland North

HUNDREDS of people have gathered at Somhlolo Stadium in Matabeleland North for the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) commemorations, with the province coming alive in a vibrant celebration of the country’s defence forces.

The commemorations are being led by Minister of State for Matabeleland North Cde Richard Moyo, who is joining scores of residents, traditional leaders, Government officials and other stakeholders at the colourful event.

The stadium is abuzz with activity, with music, singing and patriotic displays creating a festive atmosphere as people celebrate the occasion and honour members of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces for their service to the nation.

The annual commemorations provide an opportunity for Zimbabweans to recognise the contribution of the defence forces to the country’s peace, security and development.

Hundreds of people, including families and young people, have turned up for the event.

Cde Moyo is expected to deliver remarks highlighting the significance of the commemorations and the role of the defence forces in supporting national development and maintaining peace and stability.
