“The conference that is going to be held next week is a chance for us to correct the mistakes that were made by Copac by leaving out the people’s views when they drafted the constitution.
“What we want is to have a constitution that reflects what the people said as indicated by national statistical report,” Cde Masimirembwa said.
“A lot of people died for this country and what they fought for should not be in vain that is why we are saying as Zanu-PF that our constitution should reflect those values that we went to war for and not to compare with what the South Africans or Americans want.”
He said Zimbabweans had spoken against homosexuality, devolution of power and the need for indigenous people to control their resources.
These issues were however, ignored in the Copac draft constitution. Cde Nyanhongo said the 2nd All Stakeholders Conference was an opportunity for Zimbabweans to assert their sovereignty.
