HARARE Province Rugby side Police Defenders have pulled out of the Chitungwiza Invitational tournament after one of their players, Ngonidzashe Chimusoro, passed away in a road accident on Tuesday. Tournament director Brian Goredema confirmed the withdrawal of the Defenders. “Police Defenders have pulled out of the tournament after one of their players was involved in a road traffic accident and burial will be on Saturday, the same day the tournament will be played, so they cannot take part as they will be attending the burial,” said Goredema.

“The accident occurred along Mutare Road near Mabvuku turn-off and on behalf of both Southern City and the Chitungwiza tournament organisers, we would like to pass our condolences to the Chimusoro family and also to Police Defenders.”

The Chitungwiza Rugby Invitational tournament is scheduled for tomorrow at Zengeza 1 High School, starting at 11am.
