GIANT beverages company, Delta Corporation Limited, has celebrated the academic achievements of 12 graduates who benefited from the company’s Bursary Programme under its broader Schools Assistance Programme.
The graduates were recognised at a recent event in Harare, providing an opportunity for the business to celebrate an important milestone in their academic journeys and reflecting on the longer-term impact of investing in education.
The Class of 2026 comprises graduates from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) and National University of Science and Technology (NUST). Their areas of study span Medicine, Pharmacy, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Science, Actuarial Sciences, Spatial Planning and Management, Food Processing Technology, and Forensic Accounting and Auditing.
The diversity of these disciplines reflects the importance of developing the technical, scientific, professional and entrepreneurial capabilities required to support Zimbabwe’s long-term socio-economic development.
Speaking at the celebration, Delta Corporation general manager – corporate affairs, Patricia Murambinda, said: “For us, this is about much more than providing bursaries. It is about creating opportunity and enabling young people with potential to acquire the knowledge and professional capabilities they need to build meaningful futures.
“Seeing our beneficiaries graduate in fields such as medicine, engineering, pharmacy, science, technology and finance is particularly rewarding. Their graduation represents years of commitment and perseverance, but it also marks the beginning of a new responsibility: to use their knowledge and skills to contribute to their professions, communities and country.”
Delta Corporation regards education as an important pillar of sustainable community development. Through its Schools Assistance Programme and related interventions, the company seeks to expand educational opportunities and contribute towards developing the human capital required by Zimbabwe’s economy.
The 2026 cohort demonstrates the potential multiplier effect of such investment: supporting the education of one young person can ultimately create value far beyond the individual beneficiary as graduates apply their expertise across healthcare, engineering, technology, industry, planning and financial services.
“Corporate social investment creates its greatest value when it builds capability that continues multiplying long after the initial intervention,” said Murambinda.
“A bursary may support one student, but an educated doctor, engineer, pharmacist, scientist, planner or financial professional can potentially influence many more lives throughout a career.
“That is the multiplier effect of education. We therefore see these young people not simply as beneficiaries of a programme, but as part of Zimbabwe’s emerging human capital.”
Delta Corporation has said it congratulates the Class of 2026 on this significant achievement and acknowledges the families, universities, lecturers and other stakeholders who supported the graduates throughout their academic journeys.
As they transition from university into professional life, the company encouraged the graduates to combine technical competence with integrity, resilience, continuous learning and a commitment to serving society.
“Their qualifications represent academic achievement. What they now do with the knowledge, opportunities and capabilities behind those qualifications will define their contribution to the future,” said Murambinda.
