DYNAMOS captain Frank Makarati has endured a lot in the past three weeks.
He was involved in a near fatal accident, along with teammate and close friend Tendaishe Magwaza on September 24, just a day after seeing his team crash out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the hands of Orapa United of Botswana.
After being treated and discharged from hospital, the former Ngezi Platinum man watched from the terraces as the Glamour Boys dispatched Herentals 2-1 in a league match.
And he was back leading the Harare giants in the derby against CAPS United last Sunday.
Despite taking the lead in the first half, Dynamos went on to lose the game 2-1 and that was actually the first time that Makarati lost the Harare Derby since he joined DeMbare three years ago.
And the defender is looking to get the smile back on his face when Dynamos host Chicken Inn in a re-arranged league tie at Rufaro tomorrow.
Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum will play catch-up matches after being involved in the CAF club competitions to which both have since crashed out.
Both have two games in hand while DeMbare will also have to play their outstanding Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final game against Yadah on Wednesday.
While they are effectively out of the running for the league title, Dynamos will be eager to retain the Chibuku Super Cup to have another dance in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
But before they can think of the Chibuku Super Cup clash against Yadah on Wednesday next week, the Glamour Boys should take care of the league tie against Chicken Inn tomorrow.
Although they have fallen too far off the pace with the leaders, Dynamos are keen to finish the season on stronger terms with Makarati rallying his teammates ahead of the Cghicken Inn tie tomorrow.
“We are fully prepared for the match against Chicken Inn as we want to redeem ourselves from that disappointing defeat to CAPS United last week.
“We know Chicken Inn is a good team and they play very well but we are certainly prepared to face them at home.
“Of course some of our regulars will be missing out due to injuries, suspensions and international duty but this is also the chance for others to step in and show what they can bring to the table,” said Makarati.
“Obviously the match will be very tough against a good side like Chicken Inn, but we are ready to battle and pick the maximum points.
“Personally, I am very much eager to smile again. I was involved in that freak accident after I was flashed at an intersection. I almost turned horrific but I thank God for keeping me and my friend Magwaza (Tendaishe) safe.
“It could have been worse but God kept it under control. I just stayed calm and managed to execute defensive driving skills well and we came out safe.”
At Baobab, Ngezi Platinum Stars assistant coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva will lead the miners against their former boss Rodwell Dhlakama’s Hwange side seeking to survive the chop.
Mutiwekuziva will stand in for Takesure Chiragwi who is on national duty where he deputises Michael Nees in the Warriors technical set-up.
