DYNAMOS board chairman Bernard Marriot says the appointment of a new executive committee to assume the day-to-day running of the club is still a work in progress, with the next leadership likely to be announced after the festive holidays.
Marriot, who is the majority shareholder at the Harare giants, is under pressure to make a decision to fill the vacancies on time to allow the incoming executive to get the 2026 pre-season planning in motion.
“No appointments have been made at the moment. This is work in progress and I am sure we will be able to make the announcement after the holidays,” Marriot said yesterday.
The Harare giants dissolved the executive led by Moses Maunganidze on Christmas Eve.
Marriot said in a statement that the Maungandidze-led committee was dismissed due to their “failure to run the club appropriately.”
The sacked executive committee also included vice-chairman Clemence Chimbari, treasurer Justice Mubayi, Webster Marechera (secretary-general) and David Chikomo who was the committee member responsible for marketing and media.
Zimpapers Sports Hub understands a new executive committee is already waiting in the wings with former vice-chairman Vincent Chawonza tipped to take over the reins.
There is also a possibility of treasurer Mubayi and Chikomo, who was also the club’s spokesperson, bouncing back.
But the final decision rests with Marriot, who is also facing a dilemma to dispose of a percentage of the club’s shares to suitors.
Negotiations with a local businessman, which reached a peak last week, have so far not yielded results as the parties are reportedly failing to reach an agreement.
