The omission of the midfielder, who was groomed from DeMbare’s junior ranks, raised some eyebrows among the club’s faithful.
The Dynamos fans felt that the club’s technical department had sacrificed the young midfielder for veteran linkman Leo Kurauzvione.
Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa then explained that he had already registered three defensive linkmen and there was no way he could also accommodate Mamvura.
Sources within the club said some of the executive members were not happy with the young midfielder’s omission from the Champions League list.
Mamvura, who tied the knot last week on Unity Day, had also expressed his disappointment on missing out on the African Safari.
But the midfielder can now enjoy his honeymoon fully aware that next year he would be part of the team which will begin its campaign in the first round against the winners of a preliminary round tie between Maculmana of Mozambique and Mafunzo of Zanzibar.
And it appears the club finally resolved to include Mamvura, who was registered as the 26th Dynamos player, for next year’s Champions League campaign.
Meanwhile, Zifa Transfer Match System officer, Timothy Mazhindu, was last week at the Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, where national associations’ officials were being taught how to enter Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup squads in line with the Caf system.
Zifa have submitted all the lists of the four Zimbabwean teams that would be participating in the two Caf competitions – Dynamos, FC Platinum, Motor Action and Hwange.
Dynamos had registered 26 players, leaving four slots vacant to add on more players if they progress to the mini-league stage of the Champions League.
And the Glamour Boys squad includes two Zambian players – Derrick Kabwe and Arthur Kasekoli – as well as Poland-based Takesure Chinyama.
However, the Caf registration window is still open and will close on December 31.
This means Motor Action, who would be playing Black Leopards of South Africa in the preliminary round of the Confederation Cup, can still register more players after they submitted the names of 19 players.
The Mighty Bulls have indicated that they would do duty with these players and would only add more players if they progress further in this competition.
Motor Action’s squad has only one striker and the Harare side is understood to be chasing the signature of former Dynamos and FC Platinum forward Norman Maroto.
Maroto is clubless at the moment after FC Platinum off-loaded him at the end of last season and the striker said he is yet to sign for any other club.
“I haven’t received anything official from Motor Action or any other club. But if they (Motor Action) are interested, I wouldn’t mind playing for them,” said Maroto.
