Dynamos will host their fellow Southern African side at home on July 1 before travelling to Luanda for the reverse fixture on July 13-15.
And if Dynamos navigate their way past the Angolans at the knock out stage, then an exciting mini-league awaits them as they could also face coach Chidzambwa’s
Black Leopards of South Africa and Sadomba’s Al Hilal of Sudan.
Dynamos, Black Leopards and Al Hilal could end up playing in Group A if they win their matches in the knock-out stages.
Former Dynamos coach Chidzambwa is currently in charge of South African side Black Leopards who have reached the play-off stage of the Confederation Cup as underdogs.
The South African side dumped out Zimbabwe’s Motor Action in the preliminary round before dismissing FC Eloi Lupopo of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the first round.
Black Leopards, under Chidzambwa, continued their fine run in the Caf Confederation Cup by knocking out Warri Wolves of Nigeria to set up a date in the final
qualifying stage with Sudan’s El Merriekh.
El Merriekh were dumped out of the Champions League by TP Mazembe, who have progressed to the mini-league stage of the continent’s premier club competition.
El Merriekh had knocked out Zimbabwe’s FC Platinum in the second round of the Champions League.
Sadomba’s Al Hilal are also joining Dynamos in the play-offs of the Caf Confederation Cup after they lost to ASO Chiefs of Algeria in the second round of the Champions League.
Sadomba could end up facing Dynamos if his side Al Hilal manage to go past CO Bamako of Mali.
Dynamos may also face familiar opponents in Coton Sport Garoua of Cameroon after their previous meetings at the semi-final stage in the 2009 Champions League.
The other teams bidding for places in Group B are Stade Malien of Mali who are playing COD Meknes of Morocco.
Winners from this encounter will face either Djoliba of Mali or Club Africain of Tunisia.
MAS of Morocco clash against FC Leopards of Congo with the winners joining either AFAD of Cote d’Ivoire or Wayad Casablance to complete the Group B slots.
The first round of matches for the mini-league stage of the Confederation Cup are scheduled for the weekend of August 3-5 with the second round being played over the weekend of August 17-19.
