He said Zimbabweans should frequently visit tourist attractions in the country as a way of developing the sector.
“They say charity begins at home and the decision to take our annual EEI activities to different parts of Zimbabwe is our small contribution towards the development of tourism in the country. We should do things on our own and let the contribution from foreigners come as a bonus,” he said.
EEI is an annual gathering that enhances interaction between army leadership and captains of commerce and industry from the country’s 10 provinces.
Lt-Gen Sibanda said this year’s theme: “Tour Zimbabwe”, was ideal considering achievements the country had made in the tourism industry.
“The theme is most appropriate, considering that we together with Zambia are working on co-hosting the United Nations World Tourism Organisation meeting at the Victoria Falls and Livingstone in 2013,” he said.
Harare district hosted the event this year while Mashonaland Central Province will host next year’s edition.
