COMPUTER and science laboratories have been built at Chatiza High School in Mutoko, funded through devolution resources.
A similar science laboratory has also been built at Chitimbe Secondary School in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe District, providing essential support for learners interested in science subjects.
At the commissioning of both laboratories, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Advocate Itayi Ndudzo commended local authorities for effectively using devolution funds to enhance educational quality and improve community livelihoods.
He reiterated the importance of strong relationships between councils and communities in fostering development.
“These structures are a true testimony of our Rural District Councils’ commitment to bring transformation in our districts.
“This is what President Mnangagwa means when he says no one and no place should be left behind.”
Adv Ndudzo added that access to science and computer laboratories should not be limited to urban or prestigious schools, but should also be available in rural areas.
Devolution had led to significant advancements throughout the country, including the construction of schools and clinics.
Advanced Level learner, Takudzwa Kamonera, expressed gratitude for the new facilities.
“It is critical for students to be able to experiment with the theoretical aspects of their science subjects.
“The science laboratory is a welcome development,” said Kanomera.
Another learner, Richard Madhovi, said: “We are now motivated in our studies, and this has come at the right time.
“We used to see these facilities in urban areas, but now we have them here. This is commendable.”
The establishment of the laboratories marks a significant step forward in enhancing educational opportunities for learners in rural communities.
