SOUL Jah Love inspired 11-year-old artiste is set to release a debut video, in a move aimed at showing the nation how serious he is about pursuing Zim Dancehall music as a career. Dangamvura-based Talent Karembera, affectionately known as ‘‘Diamond Kid’’, is doing Grade Five at Dangamvura Primary School and said his aim was to be a full-time musician.

“I am inspired by Soul Jah Love and my dream is to be a full-time musician, but I also want to excel in school.
“Though I am still young, I am confident that I will travel the world and make it in the Zim Dancehall music industry,” said Diamond Kid.
Despite having started his music career early last year, the talented youngster already has eight singles to his name, some of which are Moyo wangu wamanikidzwa, Zvitanda Munzeve, Buddy Zone and Chingoma chakaipa.

The video he is set to launch is for the song Buddy Zone.
Diamond Kid revealed that besides the help he gets from his producer, all the other song ideas are his.
“The people who help me create beats are my producer Abel T, DJ Franco (Francis Nharu) and another upcoming musician, Peter Matondo, better known as Peter Guns. I create my own lyrics. I do not write them down, neither do I forget them when it is recording time.

“My father trains me on how to stage my shows as well as lure crowds. He is always advising me not to use hate speech against other artistes whenever I will be singing,” he said.

Speaking about his recruit’s music, Abel T confirmed that Diamond Kid does not write any lyrics down.
Said Abel T: “I think music is an inborn thing For Diamond Kid.

“He does not write anything down, but amazingly he does not forget the words to his songs. He is a devoted young man and when other artistes are recording he will be watching closely to better his art.”

Asked to share her feelings about her son’s desire to pursue music full time, Diamond Kid’s mother is behind him all the way.
“I don’t see anything wrong with him pursuing music as a career.
“In fact, I am rallying behind my son. Who knows, he could end up being Zimbabwe’s own Jayden Smith.

“Whenever he sings, one can tell that the child is talented so instead of suppressing that talent, I will help him achieve his dreams by giving him all the support he needs,” she said.

Apart from being looked down upon by older artistes and of course juggling books and the desired profession, Diamond Kid said he had no other challenges because the studio services and equipment are catered for by his father.

Diamond Kid works with Big Jokar Records and the Buddy Zone video is set to be launched on February 15.
