Diaspora Kapita, an investment holding group with a pan-African focus, is strategically aiming to tap into expansive business prospects across the region including a listing on the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) this year.

By venturing into the VFEX, Diaspora Kapita aims to broaden its reach and attract potential investors.

This comes as several companies are eyeing the United States dollar-denominated exchange, which is seen as a secure vehicle for raising capital.

Diaspora Kapita (DK), an investment holding group focusing on identifying, acquiring and building a portfolio of sustainable growth assets in Sub-Saharan Africa was established in 2014 and emerged as a catalyst for enabling investments by Zimbabweans residing abroad in collaboration with their counterparts back home.

The organisation boasts investments across various sectors, including financial services, contract mining, construction services, agriculture and health services.

DK stands as a remarkable example of how the collaboration between locals and the  diaspora can be effectively harnessed.

The primary aim of DK is to generate value for both groups while fostering Africa’s development by creating employment opportunities and actively contributing to the resolution of the continent’s challenges.

“We are in the process of unbundling our business and list on the VFEX and that is going to happen around May,” said the company’s chief executive officer Mr Vhusi Phiri.

He was making a presentation during a recent Fixed Income Economy conference in Bulawayo.

“Then the other business, which is the industrial business we are looking up to bring it to the market around the third quarter of this year.”

With over 200 employees in South Africa and Zimbabwe, the company’s notable investments include 21st Century Life, AgroStrong (offers cattle-backed financial services), Northlands Resources (involved in contract mining in Zimbabwe) and Tsigiro/Usekelo (offers global financial services). — @SikhulekelaniM1
