This was said by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, George Charamba, when he toured Gwindindi transmission site in Chimanimani yesterday.
ZBC reported that Charamba toured the site to assess progress on compliance with the digitalisation programme.
He was accompanied by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Acting Chief Executive Officer Patrick Mavhura, the Chief Executive Officer of Transmedia, Florence Sidugu-Matambo and officials from the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ).
To ensure the new creative industry takes off, the government has acknowledged the need to infuse resources; hence more cameras, lighting equipment and other accessories have been purchased.
According to Charamba, the state is moving in on equipment and infrastructure development to ensure the creative industry is not burdened.
New equipment has been put in place and repair work on the tower has been carried out as the country moves to have all the transmission sites equipped with digital equipment.
BAZ technical manager Mathias Chakanyuka said six transmission sites have been completed.
They anticipate equipping 48 transmission sites and by April close to 18 sites are expected to be complete.
Major infrastructural development has been carried out under the first phase which includes the refurbishment of ZBC studios, master controls and play out systems.
