With his group Stiff still languishing on the sidelines at Kalawa Jazmee, South Africa-based Zimbabwean kwaito star Delaney a?Dilizaa? Dondo is now looking to reinvent himself as a solo artiste.
The Zimbabwean shot to prominence in the last few years because of his highly lauded features on Alaska hit songs Shaker Mntwana and Kalawa GP.
Since then the deep voiced kwaito lyricist has taken a back seat, as he alongside fellow members of his three-man group wait for the green light to release their debut effort from notoriously hard to please Kalawa boss Oskido.
Although he is still a member of Stiff, Diliza says that he is looking to make an attempt at a solo career.
a?I have been under pressure from Zimbabwean fans that want a solo project and I think that itas time that I gave it to them. They have shown a lot of support for me and itas only right that I repay them with good music,a? he said.
Diliza added that despite officially being a member of Stiff, the solo project still had the backing of his record label.
a?The project is being handled by Kalawa. Thatas a good thing for me because I feel better working with Kalawa producers with whom we share a deep understanding. So far I have made a few songs with Pex Africah and the plan is to launch my two singles during my birthday celebrations in September,a? he said.
Diliza said while his focus was on his album, Stiffas ambitions were different as they were pushing their singles instead of a full length project.
