HIGHLANDERS Football Club is contemplating releasing a music album meant to tell the story of the 90-year-old club.
Bosso, who are the countrya��s oldest club dedicated the year 2016 as a celebratory year with a range of activities that include road shows and a theatre production to be written and directed by revered arts guru Cont Mhlanga. Earlier this year, the club members visited the grave of founding member Rhodes Lobengula Khumalo in Grahamstown in South Africa. a�?Yes,A� we did plan that it would be a great idea to compile a music album at the beginning of the year but it is not yet a concrete programme,a�? said the Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede.
The veteran football administrator added that there were some bootleg songs that had been identified with the club although it did not take ownership of them. a�?There are already existing songs that have sensitive content that some fans like to sing such as Bopha ijamboA� that have nothing to do with us,a�? Gumede said. The club is reportedly set to take the celebrations a notch up by compiling an album that will include a remix of Clement Magwazaa��s song Kokotsha. The Highlanders community is set to come together at a date to be announced and produce five new songs, with the other five being the hit Bosso songs from well known artistes.
a�?We are planning a Highlanders music album that will feature a Magwaza remix of the song Kokotsha. We will want the Bosso community to come together and compose songs that they will judge into and out of the album,a�? said a source within Highlanders.
A video of the remix and other songs from the album will be added as a bonus for music fans with scenes from popular Highlanders fans gathering spots.
