Disability inclusion training begins

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) and Leonard Cheshire Disability Zimbabwe (LCDZ) have started training key people here on the rights of people living with disability and unpacking the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disability.

The training is part of a three-year programme funded by the European Union (EU) dubbed “Youth actions on the implementation and monitoring of disability rights in Zimbabwe”, which will be implemented in three districts — Bindura, Shamva and Rushinga.

The trainees, who include chief executives of local authorities, district administrators, heads of Government departments and organisations for people with disabilities are expected to impart the knowledge they would have gained to people in their respective communities.
Officially opening a three-day workshop last week, the Provincial Development Coordinator Mr Cosmos Chiringa said in line with Vision 2030 and social inclusion.
