Hunt for Greatness Milton Kamwendo
Bury every suggestion that you are inferior, unable and incapable of greatness. Inside you lies great power and potential. You are born for greatness, engineered for success and endowed with seeds of greatness.
Whatever comes your way you can handle. Whatever stands in your path you can mount. Whatever seems like it can never change, will.
Do not let life intimidate you. You are not inferior to anyone or anything. Nothing can make you feel inferior without your consent. Rise up, stand tall and do great things. Your greatness is waiting for you to show up.
What you do not know
Do not let what you do not know stop you, intimidate you or crash you. Whatever you do not know you can learn. Whatever you have never done you can learn. You can finish school, hopefully but you can never exhaust learning.
Learning starts, continues, deepens, but does not end. Refuse to sleep with the same ignorance that you woke up with. Challenge yourself to attack every arena of ignorance.
What you do not know should never limit you. What you learnt in the past is not helpful unless you apply yourself and keep upgrading yourself. Invest in your learning and growth. Invest in sharpening yourself.
There is a lot of help you can use if you can only seek for it. There are more people willing to teach than those willing to learn. Whatever you do not know, you can learn. What are are not, you can become.
Your greatness is in learning to apply and not just learning to embellish your Curriculum Vitae.
Eric Hoffer once said: “In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”
You do not have the luxury of being left behind because you were too arrogant to learn, and too self-absorbed to explore. Keep learning and growing. What you do not know will never stop you unless you stop learning.
Extend you learning torch to other areas of knowledge and expertise. Renew your knowledge base and extending it to new areas. The greatness ability that you acquire in the school system is the ability to learn. Keep scanning for new pockets of knowledge to improve your performance and delivery. The lifelong cycle of learning is the fountain of greatness. The opportunities to learn are everywhere. The formats through which you can learn are also endless. Do not let anything that you do not have stop you from learning.
Read widely, learn avidly and never be satisfied to have spent a week without reading anything worthwhile. One week without some good reading makes you weak mentally. Make daily reading a habit you will see how fast you grow and how confident you become. To grow daily, learn daily.
What you failed at
Do not park where your last failure happened. Failure is not an absolute evidence that you will never make it. Failure means that you are just work in progress. Keep trying and failure should never stop you. A few attempts should never signal that you are unable. Keep failing, learning and trying again. With each attempt you learn, grow and improve.
Failure is never a person — it is just a mere event. Failure does not mean that you as a person are a failure. Stop thinking that whenever you fail it get etched on your forehead. Do not take failure personally and condemn yourself into permanent fool. Use every failed attempt as a learning gym.
Learn from both your successes and failures. Your failures teach you better than your successes. Success easily feeds your ego, while failure sobers you and teaches you to learn in humility.
Failure is the textbook of success. Failure means you were willing to do something. You cannot become great without attempting things and risking failure. Failure is evidence of great faith. Failure is the seed of greatness and that is why you must never let failure stop you. In truth you never fail as long as you are willing to learn.
Failure does not mean you are not able and that you will never make it. Failure means that you must keep trying. You may be delayed a little but that does not mean that you will never make it and you are not able to make it.
A delay is not a defeat. Keep your hands on the plough, and your eyes on the knitting; improving with each attempt and step you take.
Do not park at the scene of your failed attempts. Take others seriously but do not take yourself too seriously or write yourself off too soon. It is not the number of times you fail that matters but the number of times you are willing to rise and face your giants.
Stop looking for pity and sympathy. There is no need for you to behave like a victim. Do not wear failure like a tattered and dirty garment. Put on a new confidence and take off the shame that you once attempted something bold and great and failed.
Celebrate your failures and learn from them. It is no shame to attempt something great and fail. It is a shame to attempt nothing and win. Be proud that you had the boldness and courage to dare something great.
Stand up strong and believe that you can. Wear a new confidence and boldness. If your confidence has been shaken, take it up again. Do not lose your confidence and grace.
Keep at the game and keep punching. Stand up to fight when you are hardest hit. Do not wear failure like a watch. Do not read situations based on the failure episodes of the past. You are able to change the narrative and change the story.
The seasons of your life are not determined by the failures that you have had.
Get back on the platform and play. Let your future be determined by your vision not your fears. Anchor your life on hope and not blame or shame. It does not matter who is to blame. What is important is getting your confidence and the internal power to fight. Get back into the game. Stand up and do what you must do. You are able to do great things.
What you accept
What you accept and learn to learn with you cannot change. Challenge your limitations and the barriers on your path. The stone in the path of the weak and timid will always become a stepping stone for the bold and confidence.
Glance at your weaknesses but focus on your strengths. Acknowledge the gaps and areas where you need help but do not let this stop you from attempting great things. Whatever you cannot do, you can get help. Never be content to remain in darkness, ignorance and fear.
Do not just wait in your cheese-less station thinking and acting like a victim. Keep growing and developing.
Search for help and you will get it. Seek greatness and doors will open for you. Knock and keep on knocking and the doors will open. Ask and keep on asking and you will get the answers that have been looking for you. Keep growing and do not let anything stifle your growth and development.
There is always something you can learn and become. You are able. The pace of your growth is determined by the intensity of your hunger for progress. Purpose to grow daily and keep learning. Pursue personal improvement with passion. Life is a giant text-book that offers countless opportunities for learning and growth.
What you prepare and develop
Prepare daily and you will position yourself for greatness. The friend of ability is time. The cousin of ability is preparation. Time spent in preparation is never wasted time. Most preparation takes place far from the podium and platforms of visibility.
Your investment in preparation will always pay handsome dividends. Part of preparation is learning. Part of preparations is positioning. Expand your horizons and keep moving forward with each step and each day.
When you can no longer learn you irrelevant. Put in place your personal development plan and follow it through. Do not wait for someone to develop you. Take personal responsibility for your learning, leadership and growth. Everyday is preparation day. Every experience is a step forward, if you are willing to learn.
It is not the wish for greatness that matters. Many people have the desire for greatness and lust for glory. What matters is the will and discipline to prepare. What you do in private determines what people will eventually see in public.
Focus your efforts and intensity of preparation. Believe you are able and you will be able. Even if there appears to be no present opportunity, never escape the opportunity to prepare. Prepare in season and out of season. When preparation meets opportunity eventually, the offspring is greatness.
