GOSPEL diva and preacher, Pastor Daisy Mukariri, reckons she made the right choice by choosing Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex to launch her ninth album.
Titled Celebrity, the album will be launched this Saturday, at a function where she will also be supported by an array of artists.
Dorcas Moyo, Obert Chari, Bethen Pasinawako, Bright Chisango and Mark Ngwazi are also part of the bill.
With many artists uncomfortable with hosting shows at what has proved to be a fortress of Alick Macheso and the Charambas over the years, Mukariri is convinced she will pull a big crowd.
“It took nine months to work on the album which I believe it will be embraced by many,” she said.
“We chose the Aquatic Complex because it’s more convenient, for the majority of my fans, and that’s where I stay and work.
“We also expect our church mates to come and worship with us since we are also pastors.
“The entry fee of US$5 for adults and US$3 for children is affordable,” she said.
Explaining the title of the album, she added:
“I chose the title Celebrity; the song is talking about Christ as the great celebrity.
“It’s meant to recruit people to follow Christ more than the way they follow world celebrities.
“The album’s major mandate is to point people towards Christ.”
The multi-tasking Mukariri, who runs a number of schools in Chitungwiza, urged fellow musicians to diversify.
“Every musician needs support financially and morally.
“I am expecting a big turnout and I am looking forward to people buying the album as well as helping to spread the music.”
In 2010, she released Taparara ne Joy released, Mwari Anoona (2011), Chikomana Delete (2012),
Vhangeri Nengoma (2014), Sungai Maronda (2015), Rereka Nzeve (2018), Bhaibheri (2019) and Malevels released last year.
