both Amara — daughter of the late Andy Brown — and Patience performed a number of cover versions without missing a note.
Hosted by Coca-Cola Central, the event marked  the launch of the Minute Maid Pulpy brand — a naturally refreshing juice with real orange pulp — onto the Zimbabwean market.
The launch follows a week-long campaign during which the company staged a treasure hunt on radio and Press inviting consumers to search and find the missing pulp under the banner, “Where is the pulp?”
In classic Coca-Cola marketing savvy, the pulp was to be found packed in a unique 400 ml PET bottle in shops all over the country.
The Minute Maid Pulpy Orange is a brand with its own distinct brand attributes and characteristics, but within the Minute Maid family.
It is a naturally refreshing orange juice drink containing the natural goodness of real orange fruit juice blended with real orange pulp bits that give the beverage a unique texture and a unique sensory experience.
“It’s like drinking a real orange fruit from a bottle. The superior proposition of this product is further reinforced by the unique iconic proprietary Minute Maid Pulpy bottle which is multi-textured and shaped like an orange at the top,” said Mona Karingi, Coca-Cola’s senior franchise brand manager for Zimbabwe.
“This launch is an affirmation of our commitment to continue leading innovation in the Non-Alcoholic Ready to Drink Beverages category (NARTD) by offering a wide range of beverages to suit emerging trends and consumer needs. We are optimistic that Minute Maid Pulpy Orange will find a perfect fit with the target consumer base,” Karingi said.
She advised consumers to enjoy the ritual of consuming a pulpy drink for the ultimate experience: Shake, open, drink and chew the pulp to enjoy the refreshing real orange taste and feel.
“The success of Minute Maid Pulpy marks the first time that a brand of the Coca-Cola Company, developed and launched in an emerging market, has reached the billion-dollar mark. We hope to replicate this success in Zimbabwe and across other African markets where we expect to roll it out over the coming months,” she said.
Zimbabwe is the fourth market in Africa to launch Minute Maid Pulpy Orange in the proprietary bottle in PET bottle (RGB) and also the second in Sub-Saharan Africa after Kenya.
