Division One player eyes move to Tanzanian club

WHILE players in the lower leagues dream of playing in the elite Premier Soccer League, for one Zifa Southern Region Division One player that is just simply not good enough.

Adrian Banana is eyeing a move to the super rich Tanzanian league.

Currently playing for Zifa Southern Region log leaders Bulawayo Chiefs, Banana aï¿½ï¿½ a 22-year-old striker aï¿½ï¿½ moving to Tanzania is a dream move.

He attended trials at Singida United, which is home to former Caps United striker Simba Nhivi, last month.

Banana expects feedback from the Tanzanian club on whether he made the grade or not sometime this month.

How does he rate his chances of cracking it into the team?

aï¿½?I was not offered a contract outright but Iaï¿½ï¿½m confident that the club will get back to me with a positive response,aï¿½? said Banana.

The youngster does not hide front the fact that cashing in on a lucrative deal was the motivation behind trying his luck at Singida United.

aï¿½?Players in Tanzania earn an average of $4 000 per month. The country is crowded compared to Zimbabwe but l still would like to play there because the league pays well,aï¿½? he said.

Former Highlanders winger Bruce Kangwa reportedly earns $5 000 per month at super rich Azam FC.

Itaï¿½ï¿½s often said that football unites people from different parts of the world so the player is not fazed by the prospect of living with predominately Swahili speaking teammates.

aï¿½?Coaches and local players speak Swahili but that should not be a problem for me if I move to Tanzania,aï¿½? he added.
