The top three teams in the league — Bantu Rovers, How Mine and ZPC Hwange are all in the championship race which will be decided after tomorrow’s games.
Tshintsha Guluva is on top of the log with 63 points, just one above second on the table How Mine with only a game left.
Bantu Rovers plays host to Hwange’s Rufaro Rovers at Luveve Stadium tomorrow hoping to collect maximum points against their opponents.
“This is one of the most important games for us and everyone is focused on the three points at stake. It’s up to us to lose the title and I am confident that if we play as a team we will beat Rufaro Rovers.
“They might be relegated but we will not be complacent because the last kicks of a dying horse are dangerous. Rufaro Rovers can be party spoilers and we don’t want that,” said Nqobizitha Masuku, Bantu Rovers’ captain.
The Young Warriors’ anchorman has been key in his team’s perfor-mance that has seen them being top contenders for the championship.
Masuku said playing in the Premiership was their motivational factor.
“Look, we are a squad made up of youngsters and it is our dream to play in the topflight. One stands a chance to market themselves when they are in the Premiership and that desire to catch the eyes of scouts in the PSL is what is driving us.
“Most of the guys have had Premiership stints before and they are keen on having another dance there,” Masuku said.
Ex-Highlanders and national team duo of Gilbert Banda and Johannes Ngodzo, Masuku, the Moyo twins Elvis and Kelvin, Abraham Mbaiwa and Kelvin “Skopo” Sibanda are expected to use their Premiership experience against Rufaro Rovers.
Rufaro Rovers is on position 13 with 35 points and with their veterans who include Alick Nyoni, Jabulani Sibanda and Milos Phiri, they might be handful for Tshintsha Guluva.
Bantu Rovers will be hoping to end their season in style and continue from where they left from last weekend when they beat Sizane Fruits and Veg 6-2.
How Mine last week stayed within the title race courtesy of a walkover as log anchors Projects failed to turn up for their game. The gold miners have a tricky encounter tomorrow as they travel to Unit Fairbridge for a date with the police outfit Black Boots.
ZPC Hwange who bagged maximum points with a narrow 2-1 win against Hwange Juniors to remain third on the log and two points behind Bantu Rovers are away to Projects FC.
