Popular Harare wheel-spinner DJ Joe was crowned champion at this year’s Carling Black Label DJ Clash.
Born Ngonidzashe Isaac, the 24-year-old outclassed 24 other contestants at an event held at the Hippodrome.
DJ Joe, who was also named the Best Mixing DJ, took home US$3 000, a controller, Apple macbook, studio monitor, and a cordless microphone.
DJ Tino (Bulawayo) and DJ Lindsay (Harare) were first and second runner up.
For his effort, DJ Tino walked away with US$2 000, a studio monitor, and a cordless microphone.
DJ Irvene X, who meant to defend his title, only managed to win the Best Creativity DJ.
“I want to thank the organisers for affording us this opportunity and putting all the local deejays on the spotlight.
“This is my first recognition ever and I want to dedicate it to my family who have been supporting me from the beginning,” said DJ Joe.
Delta Corporation marketing director, Irimayi Muzorewa said;
“We are happy to be part of another story where we are uplifting local DJs who are leveraging their musical talent towards building a brighter and vibrant entertainment industry.
“The second edition was exceptional, we recorded a number of entries and we are looking forward to an even bigger event next year,” said Muzorewa.
Saintfloew and Voltz JT performed during the after-party.
Chillspot Record’s DJ Levels and DJ Tamuka also gave fans an entertaining clash.
