Bulawayo up-and-coming DJ Mphoe has revived his father’s Rhythm Unplugged entertainment company which he hopes to grow into an academy to support up-and-coming DJ’s.
Born Mphoe Bhebhe, the DJ is son to former Lovemore Majaivana’s sound engineer, Evans Bhebhe who used to operate Rhythm Unplugged in his heyday.
In an interview, the youthful DJ said he launched the company at a recent show held at Queens Sports Club.
“I am exhilarated to officially revive the Rhythm Unplugged brand that was once run by my father.
“We hosted a Facebook party at Queens Sports Club last week on Friday and the turn up was out of this world,” he said.
The visionary DJ also said he hopes to turn around the entertainment zone to a whole different level through good music.
The DJ was groomed at Basement Club where he sharpened his skills alongside DJ Fire, DJ Fortue and DJ Admire.
Mphoe also said he planned to set up a modelling agency that will complement his vision to spice up the entertainment scene.
“I am passionate about the beauty surrounding the city of Bulawayo and I also appreciate its rich culture and tradition. I am going to use the few resources I have to set up a modelling agency,” he said.
Mphoe also said entertainment has always been a thing of the Bhebhe family.
“Entertainment has always been a family thing dating back to the days when my father was Lovemore Majaivana’s sound engineer and for me to take after him was a calling,” said the DJ who is also studying architecture at the National University of Science and Technology.
Rhythm Unplugged also comprises other DJs such as DJ Licious Deep, Scooby and King LC who have so far supported DJ Mphoe.
The dedicated DJ has managed to make a name for himself in the city through his international shows where he performed alongside renowned Black Coffee, DJ Tira and DJ Kent.
