One of South Africa’s top house mix DJs, Shimza, (real name Ashley Kholofelo Raphala) is billed to perform at Club Eden this Saturday.

This will be the first time the 26-year-old DJ, who is signed under the successful DJ Black Coffee’s Soulistic music stable, performs in the city.

“Shimza will definitely bring the house down with his mixtapes. He’s looking forward to a great show,” show promoter Nigel Matswangiwa said.

The Channel O Bassment DJ who started spinning the decks at 14 years and is inspired by Black Coffee will be backed by Club Eden DJs Keezy, Kananjo and Dash who will spice up the show with his dancehall playlist.

The well-travelled DJ who has performed with DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Micasa and Oskido broke into the entertainment industry in 2007 through winning a DJs competition.

“My big break was when I won the Betrams Next Big Thing competition in 2007, which was aired on Channel O. From then on it’s always been about pushing,” Shimza was quoted saying.

Shimza who comes from the Tembisa township believes in giving back to the community and constantly does charity gigs. He has 10 mixtapes to his name.
