Djembe Monks to bring out Love, Music and Drums

The project, titled Love, Music and Drums, will be launched on the 27th of this month at Horizon nightclub with the support of Miller.

In an interview yesterday, group member Ngqabutho Ncube, better known as Slimzar waAfrica, said the project had come about when they realised that their fans and local music fans in general did not have the necessary means to get online and download their music. The songs were previously available online only.

“We decided to put the music out in a format that is most accessible to the people. The songs have been available for download online, but we realised that many people in Bulawayo do not have that opportunity to download the music,” said Slimzar wa Africa.

He said the singles had been received well individually with some of them doing very well on the websites meant for the download of music.

“The singles have been doing well on digital music websites. Two of the tracks are on AfrodesiaMP3.com’s top 40 best selling tracks chart while they have also been well received on phokulpoynt.com, a site where singles are sold,” said Slimzar.

He said while releasing the album meant their music would be under threat from piracy there was nothing they could do to counter the problem at present as it was impossible to keep track of those selling music material illegally.

“At this point there is little we can do about piracy. We have to do anything to get our music out there including selling our music after performances. Even if our music is released online for download the music pirates still get hold of the material,” he said.

Fellow group member, Ndumiso Tshuma, also known as Sir Black Cee, said the group would continue giving tribal house music fans the best when it comes to the genre. He said they would also be showcasing their versatility by delving into other genres.

“We promise tribal house music fans fireworks on the upcoming project which will also feature some afro-soul. People should in particular look forward to our singles Ngoma Yorira featuring Otis Ngwabi and Whispers of Nyaminyami with X-mile. These have been doing well in South Africa.

“We also added a gospel track because we want to make sure we remember the man above for what he is giving us,” he said.
