THERE was chaos at Ntabazinduna Flats, Bulawayo, after a desperate man confronted a man he claims is his long-lost father at his flat in the same suburb — demanding a DNA test.
But instead of answers, fists flew.
The confrontation turned ugly as the two pushed and shoved each other before tumbling down the stairs and crashing to the ground, leaving both with serious injuries, including a fractured neck and arm.
Ephraim Ncube (68) and Trust Chihobo (37) were arrested for disorderly behaviour and appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Vimbayi Chirayi.
They both pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct. The matter was postponed to 2 April.
In a warned and cautioned statement, Chihobo told police he only wanted closure.
“I went to Ncube’s house to visit him, but when he opened the door, his wife told me that he was at home. While I was talking to her, Ncube arrived and told me to go away.

“He pushed me and we started pushing each other until we both fell down the staircase and rolled to the ground. I suffered bruises on my face and fractured an arm.
“I was told he is my father and we look alike. All I want is to do a DNA test to find the truth so that I can have closure.”
But Ncube is having none of it!
“Chihobo came to my house and claimed that I am his father. I know him from the neighbourhood, but I am not his father. When I tried to address him, he pushed me and I fell down the stairs and rolled to the ground. I was rushed to hospital and admitted as I had fractured my neck.
“I do not know why he wants to take me for a DNA test when I am not his father. He wants to ruin my reputation in the suburb.”
The court will determine the truth when the trial resumes next month.
