SO often times everyone does a thorough clean of their homes. Upon doing this thorough clean, there are always some things that are thrown out of the house into the rubbish/trash bin. These things could be worn out and tattered clothes that are no longer desirable, it could be furniture broken beyond repair, or any household material no longer useful but that still cannot be given to others even the less fortunate.
Before being thrown out into the rubbish bin, these same things occupied space in the house. They at times even gave the impression that your wardrobe or home is full.
They could even have the illusory effect that you have plenty when the majority of the things were just worn out, tattered, broken and unused materials.
It could be so deceiving to an extent that one does not realise the need to buy more clothes because their shelves are seemingly full.
Sometimes you do not have room to store even your precious stuff because you have the impression that you have more than your room can take. But is the room being taken up by useful things? No!
Well such is the state of our lives most of the times. We really need to have a thorough clean of our rooms, to ascertain if all the things that occupy our lives are all important and in use.
Often times we congest the rooms of our lives with things that we do not even use or need at all.
An easy example could be our mobile phones and many other gadgets that have electronic storage. We can fill our contacts with numbers we haven’t used in years, yet there are people who matter very much who are not in our contacts. We fill our gadgets with many songs that we do not even play so much that we don’t even have room to put the songs we would actually love to listen to.
Getting deeper and sentimental, you will realise that most people have their hearts full of garbage and that is why they do not take in anything good at all.
They are full of hurt, disappointment, anger and bitterness. They do not even have room to store love, happiness, kindness and mercy anymore because their hearts are full with garbage.
There are people who can’t even open their hearts to love people in their life who care because they are still holding on the hurt and abuse of years before.
They do not even know they are keeping garbage in their life because it has been long before they last did a thorough clean.
The honest truth in life is you cannot feel a space occupied already. Try this simple exercise at home to get a visual of this.
Get a small can; fill it with sand, then try to put stones into the same can. What happens?
The stones will either be on top of the sand but not really in the can or they will fall off.
Such is our life! You cannot fill a heart that is full of anger and hurt with love and care. There simply won’t be any room.
Some are at a stage where they need new friends and people in their life, but they are still holding to the same old friends that continue to pull them back into the mud.
They are always failing because of the wrong associations they keep.
The reason why they will not find new and better friends is because they do not have time for the friends that will take them out of the mud. But see, you won’t ever realise that your friends are worn, broken and tattered if you don’t thorough clean your life.
Do an audit of all your relations. Are they all worth it?
What does a thorough clean do for you? It creates room and space. The space doesn’t always have to be occupied.
It doesn’t mean that whenever you leave a broken relationship you should find a replacement. At times you need to enjoy the fresh air that comes with the free space. You might not have new clothes to put in the shelves after throwing out useless junk, but at least now you know your deficiency.
It is much better than thinking that you have plenty when all that you have is worn out, tattered and broken.
This will put you into perspective. Imagine how many people think they have many friends when actually, they don’t have even one genuine friend in their circles.
Get rid of your old garbage if you expect to receive any new and better things in life!
Till next week God bless you all.
