Doc in the dock over destruction of property

Kathrine Mauchaza (61) pleaded not guilty to charges of malicious damage to property when she appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Shelly Zvenyika.
Ms Zvenyika remanded her out of custody to Friday this week on US$50 bail.

She also ordered her not to interfere with State witnesses and to continue residing at her Gunhill home until the matter is finalised.
Prosecutor Ms Rosewitter Madembo said the State was ready for trial but defence lawyer Mr Harrison Nkomo told the court that he was not ready because the State gave him court papers shortly before the court session.
Mr Nkomo said he needed time to sit down with his client and come up with a defence outline.

Ms Shelly Zvenyika deferred the matter to Friday this week.
The complainant in the matter is Ms Charity Nyabinge.

Ms Zvenyika says on August 4 this year, the doctor went to Ms Nyabinge’s residence in Msasa demanding her title deeds and an altercation ensued.

Mauchaza, it is alleged, became violent and started destroying the complainant’s property.
She is alleged to have destroyed property worth US$2 500.
