Domestic dispute turns tragic, son killed

Livingstone Mahachi (30) of Stand Number 53, Village 5, Kasimure, appeared before Karoi magistrate Mrs Nyaradzo Tukwa on Wednesday facing murder charges.
Mahachi who was remanded in custody to January 25 this year was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

It is the state’s case that Mahachi and his wife Chipo Mupanedengu had an altercation which degenerated into a fight.
Mahachi allegedly pulled a log from their pole and dagger kitchen hut to assault Mupanedengu.

He allegedly struck Mupanedengu once on the left shoulder but the log hit the boy who was strapped on his mother’s back.
The son sustained a swollen head and died on arrival at Parirenyatwa Hospital the following morning.

Police have since recovered the log which was used during the assault.
Mr Benjamin Negato prosecuted.
