A 37-YEAR-OLD man from Colleen Bawn in Matabeleland South committed suicide on Friday following a misunderstanding with his wife.

Loveday Moyo was found dead at about 6AM in his room, police have confirmed.

Acting police spokesperson for Matabeleland South Inspector Nkosilathi Sibanda said residents informed the police after discovering Moyo’s body.

“He was employed as a domestic worker and we understand that he had a misunderstanding with his wife before he hanged himself. He used a wire to hang himself,” said Insp Sibanda.

“We suspect that he hanged himself because of the misunderstanding. As police we want to urge members of the public to engage third parties in resolving conflicts.”

The nature of Moyo’s misunderstanding with his wife was not disclosed.

Insp Sibanda said Moyo’s body has been taken to Gwanda Central Hospital for postmortem.

Cases of people taking their own lives, sometimes after killing their loved ones are on the increase in the country. The police have since urged people to find amicable ways of dealing with problems they encounter in life rather than resorting to taking the law into their own hands or taking their own lives.
