‘Domestic tourism promotes cultural exchange’

Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister in the Children’s Parliament, Patience Maraidza, has implored youth and the local community to value domestic tourism.

She emphasised the importance of domestic tourism in promoting natural tourism sites, supporting the local economy, promoting regional tourism, cultural exchanges and filling hotels, lodges and resorts during low occupancy days.

She emphasised the importance of domestic tourism in generating revenue and encouraging the community to utilise nature given the likes of Chinhoyi Caves, Mazvikadei and the Kariba Dam.

“It also supports the local economy and promotes regional tourism, not forgetting cultural exchanges within the country.

“As the local community, we have a duty and obligation to market the country as an important tourism destination,” said Maraidza.
