‘DON’T PAY LAND REGULATION FRAUDSTERS’

THE Harare City Council has issued a warning to residents not to pay anyone claiming money for land regulation.

The Council will tour all suburbs for an assessment of land before releasing papers for regulation. Environmental Management Committee chairperson, Councillor Blessing Duma, said the Council will bring papers for the land that is going to be regulated, and the exercise does not require ‘fuel money.’

Duma also advised residents to pay money directly to the Council and not to give anyone else.

He warned the Council may repossess land or residents may pay for land that has already been allocated by council if their money was not received.

“Council does not need fuel money to regulate papers, so if residents are told to pay for fuel, it’s a lie.

“Regulation money should be paid straight to Council and do not give anyone money.”

Duma said they spent the whole of yesterday in Mabvuku-Tafara viewing houses and places that were invaded.

“We also went to Tonderai Ndira Phase 2. We will also consider around 10 000 households in Mabvuku.

“We will regulate land that can be regulated, if you occupy land that is meant for a school or clinic, we cannot regulate the land.

“As we move around, we have places that we were told to visit by the provincial government, like Hope homes, where there are schemes that might be considered for regulation.”
