Only yesterday he was singing “Zora Butter” and today he is Red Cross Zimbabwe’s humanitarian ambassador.
Life has its own obstacles but more important is what you learn from those obstacles.
At times even the simplest task becomes difficult due to exhaustion, fatigue and so forth. The truth is that when the going gets tough the tough get going.
Events that are happening in Zimbabwe show a positive development within the arts sector. A lot of good gestures have been happened since last year. A drive along the major roads you will see faces of musicians on billboards something that never used to happen.
What more can make us feel proud than seeing our own brothers used in promoting the top brands in our nation?
What can generate a level and culture of excellence and professionalism in the arts industry than the placement and appointments to represent for our people?
We honestly had grown tired of seeing actors, musicians and so on from other countries riding high on our billboards.
Last year PSquare came and left us with a good message saying: “If we don’t write a good story about our own who will . . . who will believe our own if we don’t join in and sing alongside them.”
The question is, how many musicians have been accorded ambassadorial roles to date? The list is endless.
The journey hasn’t been easy and I must say that there is going to be more musicians up for such accolades. The business community is beginning to have confidence with our artistes. Last year the Harare Interantional Festival of the Arts had a very catchy line that said “talent and passion can get you far” and I can’t wait to see the line-up of artistes who are jamming at this big festival.
News is that a lot of those who have performed at this prestigious showcase have found themselves at similar festivals in other countries.
Word of advice to our artistes is that grab the opportunity at Hifa to tell your story, prepare your promo pack and who knows during interaction you may get an opportunity to pass t on to major international promoters or producers who will change your life.
In future, we want to see the benefits of the endorsements. Are these deals making money sense for the artistes and who is benefiting the most?
If you have been appointed or endorsed in any capacity please send me your details we also want to celebrate with you.
