IMAGINE two of Zimbabwe’s finest female voices on one song.
That is exactly what gospel musician, Dorcas Moyo, has lined up for her fans, having roped in popular artiste, Feli Nandi for her forthcoming album, Korona Yeimvi.
The collaboration brings together the two sought-after artistes who have carved distinct niches in Zimbabwe’s music industry despite coming from different backgrounds.
Moyo, one of the country’s most established gospel musicians, is preparing to release her 11th album, a 10-track project titled Korona Yeimvi.
The album is being recorded at Kunashe Studios, and is scheduled for launch on October 31.
While details of the collaboration are being kept under wraps, Moyo’s management has confirmed that the song is already complete.
Her manager, Peter Madondo, said the new project is a step forward from her previous offerings, designed, not only to entertain, but to provoke reflection on life and faith.
“The album is another piece laden with spiritually nourishing and socially aligning lyrics. It is an album that depicts maturity, in harmony with the title Korona Yeimvi,” said Madondo.
“We have gone a step further in ensuring that we provoke people into self-introspection. I can safely say the album is a notch higher than previous offerings,” he said.
The title Korona Yeimvi, which refers to a crown of grey hair, carries a strong spiritual message.
The album is inspired by biblical teachings and uses maturity as a symbol of spiritual growth, wisdom and victory through faith.
The project reflects the journey of a believer from spiritual infancy to maturity, drawing inspiration from scriptures such as 1 Peter 2:2, Hebrews 5:12, 1 Corinthians 13:11 and Proverbs 16:31.
Beyond music, it is a reflection on the stages of life and faith, encouraging listeners to grow spiritually and become wiser through experience.
The 10-track project features songs such as the title track Korona Yeimvi, Mazita, Warikava and Rurimi, among others.
The much-anticipated collaboration with Feli Nandi is expected to be one of the highlights, adding an interesting dimension by blending Nandi’s energy and musical identity with Moyo’s gospel sound.
Madondo said the team is finalising other collaborations and will only reveal names once the tracks meet their expectations.
“We are finalising other collaborations and once we are convinced they are meeting our expectations, we will divulge the names. But I can safely tell you that we have Feli Nandi on board and the track has since been completed,” he said.
Moyo has remained consistent over the years, with previous projects including Mhanza Haisekwe (2023), Bvudzi Rangu Ramera (2022), Bvisai Marara (2021), PaMarah Tapfuura (2020) and Ndibatsirei Mwari (2020), among others.
