MUTARE-BASED choral group Dangamvura Old Students Association will tomorrow (Saturday) compete for glory with regional choirs in the Limpopo Regional Championship to be held at Meropa Casino in Polokwane, South Africa.
The group will join their Zimbabwean counterparts, Victory Faith Chorale, Chitungwiza Harmony Singers and Heavenly Praises who also set to compete in the potentially intriguing contest.
Nine groups from choirs across Africa are expected to compete.
Last year, DOSA failed to make it into the top three of the 37th Old Mutual National Choir Festival held in Thohoyandou, South Africa after the impressive Limpopo SAPS Choir scooped the first prize. Capricorn Chorus Group was seated on position two, while Chitungwiza Harmony Singers were on position three.
In an interview, the group chairman, Simeon Nyemba, expressed confidence and vowed to bring the coveted prize home.
“We roped in new blood from different churches and our group is ready for the contest. We learnt from our last year’s mistakes. We worked on our flaws and are ready for the competition. Morale in our camp is high and everyone is in right frame of mind.
“We are very confident that we will come up tops. We know it won’t be easy, but we are hoping for the best,” said Nyemba.
