DPM Khupe receives African Achievers Award

Speaking to journalists at the Harare International Airport yesterday, DPM Khupe said she will continue pursuing her goal to establish a cancer foundation. The foundation will assist women access information and treatment of the disease.
“The foundation will ensure that there is adequate treatment in the country so that we do not go to South Africa like what I am doing.”
DPM Khupe said she was feeling better and would continue to fight and raise cancer awareness.
She also received the African Achievers Award during her stay in South Africa. She dedicated the award to all Zimbabwean women.
“The award is for all of us and will motivate me to continue the fight for women empowerment. Women are creators of wealth and are responsible for national development so I will use the award to further push for women empowerment through increased representation in Parliament and other positions of authority,” she said.
The deputy prime minister said she had fought for the removal of user fees for pregnant women and children under five years in an effort to reduce maternal mortality rates.
She urged the nation to respect women’s rights to ensure national development.
