Harare giants Dynamos and CAPS United, who have invested in junior policy, will have their efforts tested at the tournament when they put into the fray their Under-16 sides.
Division one side Black Rhinos will also field their age group side. DC Academy, Black Aces, Ali Sundowns and BM Academy are also expected to take part in the competition and invitations have also been extended to hosts Prince Edward and Allan Wilson.
FUZ secretary-general Paul Gundani said the participating teams will be split into two pools of fours with the top sides playing in the final. The games will start at 8.30 am.
“The captains will pick names from the hat in the morning to determine which pool the team goes. This first edition will be a trial run because we want this to be a national event as early as next year,” said Gundani.
“This tournament is part of our program with the United States Embassy to raise HIV/Aids awareness among our youth and our membership.
“There will be quite a number of team and individual prizes at the end but we are not rewarding in monetary terms because we are dealing with young people under the age of 16.”
High school students from 11 schools and colleges in Harare have benefitted from the visits made by Murape Murape, Ashley Rambanapasi, Norman Maroto, Evans Gwekwerere, Tapiwa Mangezi and Martin Vengesai.
