Dr Mombeshora refutes abusing constituency fund

On Wednesday, Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Eric Matinenga named 10 legislators including two ministers whom he said faced prosecution for failing to account for US$50 000 they got under the fund.
Minister Matinenga said his ministry had approached the police and Anti-Corruption Commission to probe the matter.
“What came out in the paper seems to suggest that I have failed to account for the CDF,” said Dr Mombeshora.
“The constituency only failed to meet the deadline. We have since spoken to the ministry.
“Actually we have instituted one of the best continuous projects that has attracted commendation from the Ministry of Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs.
“We have started a piggery project for the community with a capacity of earning the constituency US$25 000 a year,” he said.
With the CDF, Cde Mombeshora said, they have managed to buy 40 sows and four boars.
“We now have over two hundred piglets that are ready for the market and we will be selling our first batch next month.
“The remainder of the money was used to electrify, connect water and do repairs on clinics and schools.
Several ministers and legislators accused of failing to account for CDF on Thursday said they were only late in submitting their returns but everything was above board.
