He said the three sources of information had been given to the drafters and they had commenced their work.
“The drafters have started working on the draft constitution but we are not sure when it would be complete although we are expecting it to be out towards the end of this month
“Once we have finalised and approved the draft, then it can be availed for public scrutiny and debate,” he said.
Mr Mwonzora said they had also reiterated a code of conduct, especially to the technical committee, that they shall not give any information to the press without authority from Copac.
Mr Mkhosi said a majority of the issues had been ironed out among the three principals although it was difficult to know when the draft constitution would be out due to the nature of the process.
“We have really tried to reconcile and we are now working with the drafters on the agreed issues and principles.
“The process is progressing well but we cannot tell when exactly the draft constitution would be out because the process is very interactive. We have to check if the drafters have followed instructions,” said Mr Mkhosi.
He said if the select committee was not happy with the drafters’ work, they would send the draft back to the drafters.
“After the drafters have made corrections, the select committee will verify again before we move to the next stage.
“However, we are happy that the constitution-making process is moving swiftly and we are all moving in one direction,” said Mr Mkhosi.
Cde Mangwana said the drafters have been given new instructions to follow as they draft the constitution.
“We have made a lot of progress in terms of agreements and there are instructions that drafters should follow during the process. The instructions include sticking to the issues from the outreach meetings and not putting their own opinions.
“We have also completed working on areas which required research and currently everything is going on smoothly,” said Cde Mangwana.
