Drama after woman shoplifts

A 23-year-old Harare woman last week made a dramatic bid to escape after being nabbed for shoplifting. She escaped through a police vehicle window as she was being driven to the police station. But the officers managed to track her.

Natasha Gorovati now awaits a court ruling on shoplifting and escape from protective custody charges. This was after the young woman, whose shop loot is available as exhibit and had police officers waiting to detail the dramatic escape, pleaded guilty.  It was proved that last week, Gorovati took some groceries at Pick n Pay Budiriro before attempting to exit without paying.

She was stopped at the exit by an alert security detail on duty who asked her to produce a receipt for the “purchase”.
