Dream start for Hachiro

Bruce Chikuni

WARRIORS and Kaizer Chiefs legend Tinashe ‘Father’ Nengomasha, has likened himself with Ngezi Platinum Stars recruit, Richard Hachiro.

Hachiro was the recipient of the ZTN Sports man-of-the-match gong in his first appearance for Ngezi.

Nengomasha is the club’s team manager.

Hachiro was part of the Ngezi side that outclassed Dynamos 2-0 in the Castle Challenge Cup at Baobab on Saturday.

The 26-year-old joined Ngezi following the expiry of his contract with Chicken Inn.

He single-handedly pocketed DeMbare’s midfield, particularly Donald Mudadi whom he reduced into an average player.

Ngezi coach Takesure Chiragwi rarely acknowledges individuals, but he agreed that Hachiro made his job easy as he bossed his zone.

Nengomasha earned his stripes as a defensive midfielder and he said he saw a lot of himself in Hachiro’s masterstroke.

“I was happy for him; he was the difference because we knew Dynamos were going to try to be dominant in the midfield to win the game, but Hachiro came to the party.

“He understood the assignment, and he was everywhere doing everything possible to block Dynamos from making any meaningful attempts.

“He reminded me of my old days and I was not surprised when he was picked by ZTN Sports as the man-of-the-match,” said Nengomasha.

Nengomasha said Hachiro has what it takes to claim a Warriors call-up if he builds from that brilliant show.

“He has played for the Warriors before and I’m now working close to him and I understand why he was selected to the Warriors squad.

“He reads the game well and it’s up to him to maintain this form.

“If he continues like this, it’s going to be difficult for any Warriors coach to ignore his exploits,” he said.

Last season, Chiragwi had Leslie Kashitigu, Marvelous Mukumba, Farai Madhananga as his options in this position.

The trio is still at the club, but the arrival of Hachiro is going to worsen their case.

Tinashe Mashaireni, a recruit from the team’s developmental side, was also impressive on his debut.

Mashaireni is probably among some of the players to watch this season.

He was the recipient of the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Golden Boot winner last season after netting 13 times.
