driver flees with cop’s cap

Mashonaland West acting provincial police spokesman Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident.
“According to the facts so far gathered, the commuter omnibus driver committed a very serious offence by resisting arrest.
“He violated municipality by-laws by picking and dropping passengers at an undesignated point, then tried to evade arrest using unorthodox means.
‘‘He took a policeman’s cap and later gave it to a mentally ill man who later refused to release it,” said Asst Insp Kohwera.
Police had trouble retrieving the cap  as  the  man insisted he would not release  it unless he was paid US$120.
He, however, later released the cap to the police.
