A TAXI driver lost his vehicle to a 15-year-old passenger in Waterfalls on Tuesday.

Takudzwa Chitsotso, 23, is employed by Linos Chibvuri, 35, as a taxi driver.

He plies the Simon Mazorodze Road to Seke Road route along Masotsha Ndlovu Way.

He picked a passenger at around 7pm who said he wanted to go to Parktown in Waterfalls.

Takudzwa was driving a white Honda Fit (AFS 3007).

The passenger gave him a US$1 note and was expecting to get ZiG20 change.

Takudzwa did not have change so he promised to look for it along the way.

The driver waved down another pirate taxi asking for change.

He left the passenger alone in the taxi while the car’s engine was still running.

He received change from another taxi driver but he soon noticed the passenger had taken charge of the car.

Takudzwa gave chase on foot, up to Zindoga Shopping Centre, where he was informed that the car had turned into Simon Mazorodze Road and proceeded towards Masvingo.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a car theft case involving a taxi driver in Waterfalls.

“Total value of the stolen vehicle is US$7 500,” said Insp Chakanza.
