ZIMBABWEAN entertainment lovers and subscribers to DStv are set for delightful times ahead as MultiChoice Zimbabwe recently announced a significant two-month package upgrade initiative for customers.
Dubbed the, “DStv We Got You” special, this promotion offers viewers on the Access, Family, Compact, and Compact Plus packages a complimentary bump up to the next subscription tier throughout January and February this year.
Gerald Ngonyamo, Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations at MultiChoice Zimbabwe, framed the offer as a welcome relief for households grappling with tightened budgets.
“January is the month where life picks up speed again after the festive season, with tighter budgets, back to school, paying annual bills and all other things that call on the family budget,” Ngonyamo stated.
“By staying connected, viewers in the four package groups will get all the benefits of the next level package while We Got You runs for the whole of January and the whole of February.”
The mechanics are straightforward: active subscribers on the qualifying packages, customers who reconnect during the promotion period, and entirely new DStv subscribers who pay in full for their chosen package between January 1 and February 28, will automatically be upgraded once payment reflects.
“In these two months, active customers, reconnecting customers and new DStv subscribers who pay for their packages in full will automatically be upgraded to the next package,” confirmed Ngonyamo.
This translates to tangible benefits for subscribers: DStv Access customers will enjoy the DStv Family package; DStv Family subscribers move up to DStv Compact; DStv Compact viewers gain access to DStv Compact Plus; and DStv Compact Plus customers will experience the top-tier DStv Premium offering.
Ngonyamo emphasised the value proposition, particularly during a financially demanding period.
“We want customers to start the year with value that matters and the We Got You upgrade let’s households pay less but unlock more stories, more channels, more sport, more children’s favourites, more local entertainment and more international content. We want to help bring families together without stretching January budgets.”
The upgrade is automatic for qualifying customers and applies specifically to decoder viewing. Importantly, the upgrade is temporary.
“At the end of the promotion period, you’ll simply return to your usual package,” Ngonyamo clarified.
Viewers looking to take advantage of the offer – whether paying their subscription, reconnecting, or signing up as new customers – can do so via multiple channels: the DStv website, the MyDStv App, USSD, mobile money (where available), banking channels, card payments, or walk-in agencies.
Beyond the practical upgrade, Ngonyamo highlighted the emotional core of the initiative.
“This offer is about more than an upgrade. It’s about giving households moments of joy, connection and discovery, without asking them to spend more. It celebrates our viewers and the wealth of content that bring us together,” he said.
