Dufty heads Down South

YOUNG Zimbabwean karter and two-time Rok World Championship Kart participant Zac Dufty heads south of the border this weekend, where he will compete in round three of the South African Northern Regions kart championships at Zwartkops Raceway in Gauteng.

With a warm-up, qualifying and three races to be held on Saturday, Dufty will complete over 60km of driving at speeds of up to 140km/h on race day alone. He will complete over 170km of testing and practise sessions at the track today and tomorrow to find the perfect set-up for his Kosmic kart, with the technical support of his mechanic and father, Kevin.

In round two of this championship, Dufty (12) finished eighth overall from 15 competitors in the Junior Max class. He is one of the youngest competitors in the class, where he races against several 16-year-olds.

“I’m excited to be racing in South Africa again, with RKT as my race team and with Motul Zimbabwe assisting me as well. It’s a fun track to drive and my target this weekend is to finish in the top six.

“I have improved my position in each of the rounds so far and I’m looking forward to the race. I hope to compete in a few of the national races too, later in the year,” Zac Dufty said.
