JUST two weeks after starting their 2015 preparations, champions Dynamos have revealed they are facing a strikers’ crisis. The Glamour Boys, now under a new technical set up led by David Mandigora, began preparations at National Sports Stadium a week ago and also held trials for new players. Mandigora is being assisted by Tonderai Ndiraya and Gift “Umbro” Muzadzi.
“Our strike force department is not very sound. We have Bulaji (Kelvin), Kawinga (Clive), Khumbula (Patrick), Anesu Gondo who has begun light training after he was injured last season in the game against ZPC Kariba,” said Ndiraya.
“We wanted at least three strikers.
“We’re also still waiting for negotiations on Simba Sithole and Rodrick Mutuma. We just read it in the papers that the deal is off but we haven’t been told officially whether the deal is off.”
Although Dynamos have also acquired Kasimero Chimbadzwa from Division One side ZRP Football club, the Harare giants attack remains lightweight.
Dynamos are also still pondering on whether to take on board the clubless pair of Misheck Mburayi and Newton Katanha.
“We will start to play friendly matches this weekend with lower league teams but it would be behind closed doors as we would be assessing the players on trials.
“At the moment we cannot say anything about the performance of these players until we see them in game situations. We’re in our second week of training, we’re just starting but progressing very well,” said Ndiraya.
Chimbadzwa has already made his move to the club though it could not be established whether the Glamour Boys have been granted use of the the player on a loan basis or a permanent deal by ZRP FC.
Chimbadzwa scored 20 goals last season in Division One.
“It is a step forward. I enjoy competition. It is also a plus to play for Dynamos as it is like coming from Grade One to Grade Two, which is something positive,” said Chimbadzwa.
“As a striker my job is to score and when I’m playing for any club I just try to do that.
“Football is not different whether you are playing for Highlanders, Dynamos and Harare City. As players we know each other very well. When I was in the Premiership I used to face all these teams.”
Another new Dynamos arrival Qadr Amini is also happy to have joined the Harare giants.
“It is good to play for Dynamos and I have always wanted to play for them as I come from Mbare. My parents used to support Dynamos and they still do so I’m home now.
“It is good to play for a club like Dynamos. It has a bigger platform to be seen whenever you are playing.
“It is a big club and one does not have to be lazy but to fight for a place all the time.
“Coach Ndiraya knew me from Prince Edward as we once worked together. So I’m sure these coaches knew what I am capable of despite the fact that I did not really have much of game time last season.
