DYNAMOS TURN TO GIDIZA

DYNAMOS will attempt to put a turbulent week behind them when stand-in coach Ronald “Gidiza” Sibanda leads the Glamour Boys against Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro this afternoon.

This follows the suspension of Genesis Mangombe and the club’s move to turn to Romanian coach Aristica Cioaba.

Mangombe was suspended on Tuesday over several claims, including alleged use of juju, leaving team manager Sibanda to take charge of today’s encounter, with Clinton Matiza as his assistant. Dynamos have identified Cioaba to take charge of the team, although the club insists Mangombe remains its employee.

The Romanian, who holds a UEFA Pro Licence and boasts coaching experience across North Africa and the Middle East, is still awaiting a work permit and will not be on the bench this afternoon.

Dynamos secretary-general Devine Sena insists the upheaval has not affected preparations for today’s match.

“Everything is okay; the boys are in high spirits and are raring to go,” he said yesterday.

“Fans should come in numbers and support the team. Ronald Sibanda will be in charge, with Clinton Matiza as his assistant.

“We have been motivating the boys and we are going for nothing short of victory.”

Dynamos head into today’s clash looking to return to winning ways after last week’s 1-1 draw against Highlanders at Barbourfields.

The Glamour Boys sit on 30 points and are beginning to lose ground in the title race after defending champions Scottland thrashed Manica Diamonds 5-0 to tighten their grip at the top of the table with 43 points.

Despite the turmoil, DeMbare have enjoyed a marked improvement compared to the last season. They managed only two wins by the halfway stage last term, but have already registered seven this campaign.

Much of that improvement has been driven by Ghanaian striker Frank Agyemang, who scored against Highlanders last weekend to take his tally to nine league goals.

Veteran midfielder Perfect Chikwende has also been influential. He created Dynamos’ equaliser at Barbourfields and walked away with the LuckyBets Man of the Match award.

Dynamos are still sweating over the availability of Ghanaian defender Christopher Nettey, who is nursing an injury.

Democratic Republic of Congo centre-half Isaac Landu is available and is expected to partner Clive Mandivei in central defence, while captain Shadreck Nyahwa and Wisdom Mutasa are set to marshal the midfield.
