A chicken farmer died seconds after boarding the kombi in the horror crash at the Dzivaresekwa turn-off along the Harare-Bulawayo road on Wednesday morning.
Zedi Chikomo was the passenger, who got the kombi to reverse and within seconds of getting on board, the vehicle was hit from behind by a speeding UD van.
Chikomo intended to take day-old chicks to Nyanga, via Mbare, where there is a poultry project.
Family spokesperson Happiness Kazembe, 45, told H-Metro that Zedi wanted to send the chicks to Nyanga.
“We lost a loving and industrious woman,” said Happiness.
“She was on her way to Mbare Musika where she wanted to send the chicks to Nyanga.
“She has been running her poultry project.”
Zedi is survived by her two daughters aged 32 and 28.
