adminEasiPark management committee chairperson, Harare chamber secretary Mrs Josephine Ncube revealed this during a recent full council meeting.
She said the matter was referred to the police to allow the city to gain access to EasiHold bank accounts.
“Working with the police will help us get evidence from EasiHold bank accounts,” she said.
Clr Herbert Gomba had suggested that the city should have charged Mr Dube without first taking the labour issue to the police.
The suspension was also confirmed in the minutes of the business committee that were adopted by the full council.
“The general manager of EasiPark Harare Pvt Ltd is on forced leave until conclusions of police investigations. It be noted that a City of Harare employee . . . have been seconded to EasiPark Harare as the acting general manager,” reads part of the minutes.
But the decision to suspend Mr Dube has not gone well with EasiHold of South Africa. EasiHold alleges Harare made unilateral staff appointments, employment terminations and staff restructuring.
