managers to the police for alleged fraud and dishonesty, as prospects for the continuation of the joint venture parking deal continue to fade.
Harare and EasiHold are joint owners of EasiPark, a parking management company that started operating in 2010 and are involved in a bitter termination row that is before an arbitrator.
Harare alleges that it has not benefited from the deal as EasiHold has not declared a dividend since it began operations.
EasiPark general manager Mr Pegias Dube is already on forced leave to allow investigations into allegations of siphoning over US$500 000 from the parking venture to South Africa.
Chamber secretary and EasiPark management committee chairperson Mrs Josephine Ncube wrote to the police recently informing them of the senior EasiHold managers they want arrested.
“I hereby submit additional accused’s names that should be added to the above case in addition to Pegias Dube,” she wrote. “The names are as follows: EasiHold (Pvt) Ltd as represented by Mike Clark (EasiHold chief executive), Richard Mynhardt and Farzan Mahomed.”
Mrs Ncube said the individuals and the company were responsible for diverting the funds.
“The group above represents the signatories of the bank account in question and the receipts/beneficiaries of the cash that was diverted from EasiPark Harare to EasiHold,” she said.
Mrs Ncube said the city was convinced Mr Dube was acting on behalf of EasiHold when he diverted the funds.
“It is now established that revenue from cash cards and reloads and from parkades and parking lots was being diverted from EasiPark Harare and was being banked into an EasiHold bank account dating back to 2010,” she said.
“Mr P Dube and EasiHold are represented by Mike Clark and held accountable for this fraudulent activity.”
Sources indicated the funds that were allegedly siphoned were those paid by companies through the sale of parking discs.
The companies were directed to deposit money into an EasiHold account instead of the EasiPark one.
EasiHold released a statement last month accusing the city of acting unilaterally in the suspension of Mr Dube and seconding of a general manager to replace Mr Dube.
